According to investigators, Torres was driving south on Van Nuys Boulevard, approaching Arminta Street, “when a suspect approached in a separate vehicle (and) fired a gun,” striking her in the head. The suspect then fled the scene in the vehicle, described as a beige or gray Toyota Camry.
Torres, who was discovered by firefighters coming from another call, crashed into a median, according to reports from the scene.
The victim was not in a gang, said Sgt. Greg Bruce of the LAPD’s Mission Division, and there was no additional suspect information provided.
Bruce previously said the shooting was being treated as gang-related because of the area and a recent increase in gang crime.
