There have been 14 England football team songs released for the World Cup.
But did you know that only three ever made it to the number one spot since the tradition started back in 1970?

The first ever song released to support the England squad in the World Cup was in 1970 – continuing on until 2006.
Called Back Home with Bill Martin and Phil Coulter, the tune hit the number one spot and was reused in the 1990s for Fantasy Football League, on which Jeff Astle, who sang poorly on the original, often appeared and sang.
In 1990 World in Motion by New Order and Keith Allen featuring a rap from John Barnes clocked up another spot at the top of the hit parade.

Three Lions by David Baddiel, Frank Skinner and The Lightning Seeds/Baddiel & Skinner is synonymous with football but it was not released for the World Cup with the Euros in 1996, although it was re-released for the 1998 World Cup.
The third one to get to number one was Shout for England song in 2010 by Roland Orzabal, Dizzee Rascal and (ft. James Corden).
