John Boyega may be the reluctant hero in Star Wars but he’s a full-on bad-ass action hero based on this first trailer for Pacific Rim Uprising.
Boyega plays rebellious pilot Jake Pentecost, a once-promising Jaeger pilot whose legendary father gave his life to secure humanity’s victory against the monstrous Kaiju in Pacific Rim.
But Jake has since abandoned his training only to become caught up in a criminal underworld – and when an even more unstoppable threat is unleashed, Jake has to decide if he will finally attempt live up to his father’s legacy.
Spoiler alert: He will.
Scott Eastwood, Jing Tian, Cailee Spaeny, Rinko Kikuchi, Burn Gorman, Adria Arjona and Charlie Day all also star in the fil, directed by Steven S. DeKnight.
Pacific Rim: Uprising is out in cinemas on 23 March.
