Paul Feigs Last Christmas Is Now a Crazy Rich Asians Family Reunion

Celebrities

Looks like Michelle Yeoh and Henry Golding will be back together for the holidays next year—in Paul Feigs upcoming film, Last Christmas.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Yeoh will be joining her Crazy Rich co-star, who co-stars in the holiday romance with Emilia Clarke. The comedy, written by Emma Thompson and Bryony Kimmings, will be set in London, and follow a woman named Kate (Clarke) who works as an elf in a year-round Christmas shop as she embarks on a new relationship with a guy named Tom (Golding). In case the title didnt give it away, the film will also feature the musical stylings of George Michael.

Yeoh played Goldings overbearing mother in Crazy Rich Asians, but so far theres no indication what shell be up to in Last Christmas. (Perhaps shell get a romance of her own? Pretty please?) Golding and Feig already collaborated once before, on this years A Simple Favor. And given Feigs knack for creating great supporting roles for his female performers, chances seems good that whatever Yeoh gets up to, shell be showcased properly. What more could anyone ask of the holiday season?

As vague as some of the details about this film are, theres already good reason to look forward to its release. Clarke has already proven she can pack theaters, given the right romantic role; after all, Me Before You did very good business two summers ago, even as other films flopped left and right. And while its unlikely that Last Christmas will duplicate the box office frenzy that was Crazy Rich Asians, the Golding-Yeoh team-up could at least offer a boost. Besides, who doesnt love a Christmas comedy?
