The Spice Girls are getting back together and everyone was more than overjoyed by the news. None so more than us. Just sayin.

However the eager excitement turned to confusion overnight as the group revealed they were no longer all about the Girl Power.

Its now People Power.

While its clear the four-piece simply mean theyre for all the people, or so we assume, their comments have disappointed many who feel the world needs to champion Girl Power now more than ever, with the fight for equality of the sexes far from over.

And one could argue The Spice Girls pioneered the whole movement.

It all came about following one of the groups first interviews since announcing their reunion tour.

She added: So we want to move that conversation on, move it forward.

The last year was very dark, the whole #MeToo thing, but it had to happen.

Honesty is paramount to healing but then we move into the light. The Spice World philosophy is lets get into the solution now. Lets be positive. Weve got each other, we care about you.

Ehhh point sort of missed, thought the people.

While no one can argue with their new brand of equality for all, social media was alight with some fans who felt they were doing a disservice to their OG message that inspired millions. You should say they were all, Stop right now, thank you very much.

Spice Girls calling for people power instead of girl power is the most 2018 you can get about 2018

One likened it to the Black Lives Matter phrase: I cant believe the Spice Girls took an already completely benign statement and All Lives Matter-ed it. We live in hell.

Fans did stick by them, though, as they supported the new messaging.

They said people power back in 1997 during their height, one Twitter user retorted. Not because they were frightened of offending anyone but because they had fans that werent only young girls. Girl Power turned into people power. #spicegirls .

We get that the band has a whole bunch of male fans yes. However were going to assume there is a massive movement of 90s kids right now donning their old school Girl Power tees (should they still fit us) and remember the good times.
