Put away your raspberry berets, for the family of the late Prince have claimed that there will be no hologram to the Purple Rain singer at Sunday’s Super Bowl half-time show.
After TMZ claimed that the hologram would appear as a tribute to the pop star as part of Justin Timberlake‘s appearance, his family tweeted a no entry sign along with the hashtag ‘#PrinceHologram’.
The account is managed by his brother, Omarr Baker.
Nothing is set in stone for JT’s show although it is thought that the 37-year-old, who performed a full run-through that was filmed for TV just in case of emergencies, will not be bringing his former N*SYNC band members on stage.
Nor Janet Jackson.
Janet herself confirmed there would be no redemption for Justin – after the infamous nipple-gate scandal in 2004 – tweeting on Saturday: ‘To put to rest any speculation or rumors as to whether I will be performing at the Super Bowl tomorrow: I will not.
‘Thank you for your support and I do look forward to seeing you all very soon.’
Janet was the half-time show headliner at Super Bowl XXXVIII, and she invited Timberlake on as a guest to perform his song Rock Your Body.
When Justin sang ‘bet I have you naked by the end of this song’, he was supposed to rip off the front of her bustier – however, he tore off Janet’s bra as well, exposing her breast, which was adorned with nipple jewellery.
The scandal derailed Jackson’s career for years; but Justin’s remained fairly untouched, with the former N*SYNC star becoming one of music’s most successful male soloists.
