Rafael Nadal is hoping for a multi-sport showdown with Tiger Woods after the superstar golfer was spotted watching him at the US Open last night.
Nadal made it through to the quarter-finals last night, beating Marin Cilic 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 to reach the last eight at Flushing Meadows for the ninth time in his career.
With world No 1 Novak Djokovic having retired on the other side of the draw through injury, Nadal is now favourite to claim his fourth US Open title, and Woods was clearly enjoying every moment of the Spaniards victory over Cilic.
It means a lot to me to have him supporting, said Nadal, who admitted he had not noticed the golfer during the match itself.
