Red Velvets Irene dislodges Kim Yuna to top ad model ranking for April

Irene, member of K-pop girl group Red Velvet, topped the latest female advertising model ranking in South Korea for April.

The 27-year-old singer dislodged Olympic champion Kim Yuna from the top position based on ranking released by the Korea Corporate Research Institute.

From March 27 to April 28, the institute analyzed 10.48 million pieces of big data covering 50 female advertising models, a decrease of 41.95 percent from 18.23 million in February. The results were based on media coverage, communication, participation and community values.

Irene rose from seventh to first place with a score of 945,757, up by 78.8 percent from her February score of 528,919.

Trot singer Hong Jin-young also rose from third to second place with a score of 721,233 while singer IU slid from second to third place with a score of 637,392 and actress Park Bo-young placed fourth with 443,304.

Olympic gold medalist Kim Yuna dropped from first to fifth place with a score of 436,430, a huge decrease from her score of 2.49 million in February.

Gong Yoo, Kang Daniel and Daniel Henney earlier topped the ranking for male advertising models in Korea.

Scoring sixth to 20th places in the female ad model ranking are:

  10. Lee Soo-min – 207,027
  11. Han Chae-ah – 204,394
  12. Girls Days Hyeri – 180,087
  13. Kim Tae Hee – 177,782
  14. Kim So Hee – 172,286
  15. Park Na Rae – 169,449
