Richard E. Grant has showed off his new accessory, a cap similar to that worn on Peaky Blinders, to cover up his battle wounds after visiting A&E.

‘THANK YOU for all the kind messages of support.Wearing a cover-up cap till I’m Peaky Blinder better!’ he tweeted on Saturday after thanking nurses at the NHS after he was treated on Friday following an incident with a ‘heavy metal bar’.

The Hollywood star has thanked the nurses for putting him back together ‘like Humpty Dumpty’ after the metal bar hit him on the head.

‘Am truly indebted to Nurses Holly & Theresa at Stroud NHS hospital for sorting out my head wound this evening,’ he tweeted.

‘Heavy metal bar clonked my cranium and they kindly cleaned me up & glued me together again like Humpty Dumpty!’

Grant has offered no further information to what happened during the incident.

NHS nurses thanked Grant for his praise, admitting it’s rare that they hear the positive comments.

‘As an NHS nurse working in Scotland we don’t often get nice feedback. It’s lovely to hear someone with such a high profile thanking staff. Speedy recovery to you,’ said Susan Logan while the official Twitter account for Gloucester NHS Trust added: ‘Thank you for taking time to highlight the great care received at Stroud General Hospital yesterday – we have fabulous nurses and allied health professionals @Glos_CareNHS.

‘We hope you’re feeling better.’
