The man behind the live-action Pikachu has given us the ultimate sneak-a Pika at how the Pokemon character is going to come to life.
Ryan Reynolds shared a glimpse at the making of Pokémon: Detective Pikachu on Monday, showing how his expressions are used to animate the famous furball.
The Deadpool actor teased a side by side of his own face covered in CGI markers as he was transformed into a very different superhero for the Warner Bros adventure film.
Dubbing the black markers Pika-dots (we see what you did there), the 42-year-old helped create Pikachus upturned mouth and wide-eyed look.
Because as well as voicing the character, Ryan revealed that digital artists were using the tracking markers to accurately transfer real body motion into digital world.

Its the first time that Pikachu will be speaking since the 1ft 4in Pokemon mascot was created for the video game world in 1996.
In the context of Ryme City, a world where Pokemon and humans live together in harmony, the voice of Pikachu can only be understood by Tim Goodman (played by Justice Smith).
Regular civilians will only be able to hear Pikachu say Pika Pika, the sound created for the character by Ikue Ōtani ever since the original series.

Its not the first time Blake Livelys husband has lent his voice to the animated world, because he provided the character of Guy in The Croods and is set to reprise the role in 2020.
Detective Pikachu is set to be released in cinemas on 10 May 2019.
