Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has a fitting farewell to the late Stan Lee.
The Marvel comics co-creator and legend passed away aged 95 on 12 November, and now we get to see his first posthumous cameo from the entertainer.
According to Deadline, the filmmakers have added a bittersweet poignancy to the scene.
Usually, Stans cameos are quick and dont always move the plot along, yet they add comical value to the films. But in this movie his appearance is said to actually have a bit of an impact on the story.
As the first cameo after his sad passing, the publication reports that the reaction to the cameo has been emotional.
Rodney Rothman, the third director of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, said that preview audiences have been responding strongly to the sequence.

Watching it with an audience the other day and all the different emotions that they were giving off was just incredible, he explained.
Lee has appeared in more than three dozen films over the past two decades, including all five of Sonys live-action Spider-Man films. The roles are always small but the films have been huge — especially lately.
At the time of Lees death, the cause was unknown but soon after TMZ claimed to have obtained his death certificate that states Stans cause of death was listed as heart failure and respiratory failure, while also allegedly listing he suffered from aspiration pneumonia.
The document also stated he died at 9.17am at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

His death was confirmed shortly after by his daughter JC, who told TMZ at the time: My father loved all of his fans. He was the greatest, most decent man.
The hero to many is survived by his daughter Joan; his wife of 69 years, also Joan, died last year aged 95, while their second daughter Jan died three days after delivery in 1953.
Fans, friends and colleagues of the comic book legend have contributed to the outpouring of love for Stan since the news of his passing, including cast members from the MCU.
The original Avengers – Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr, Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner – took out a full-page ad in The Hollywood Reporter to honour Lees work.
