As if this year already couldn’t get any better for Stormzy, his Spotify numbers have more than doubled since Wednesday night’s Brit Awards, thanks to his two big wins and a powerful stage performance.

The South London rapper won awards for Best British Male and Best British Album for his debut studio album Gang Signs and Prayer.

But perhaps the most attention-grabbing moment of the night was when the 24-year-old called out Prime Minister Theresa May for her handling of the fire at Grenfell Tower in 2017.

‘Like yo Theresa May where’s the money for Grenfell?’ he rapped. ‘What you thought we just forgot about Grenfell?’

He added: ‘You criminals, and you got the cheek to call us savages. You should do some jail time you should pay some damages,we should burn your house down and see if you can manage this.’

And according to figures released by the streaming giant, streams of Stormzy’s back catalogue increased by 116%, while fellow winners and performers saw a spike in streams, including Rag’N’Bone Man (88%), Foo Fighters (41%) and Dua Lipa (31%).

Streams of Oasis’ Live forever also increased by 105% – which was performed by Liam Gallagher in tribute to the victims of the Manchester terror attack after Ariana Grande was forced to pull out due to illness.

Today’s chart show will no doubt give a further indication of the power of the Brits – with Dua Lipa’s IDGAF currently sitting at number three and Rag’N’Bone Man’s album Human move up to number six in the midweek single and album charts respectively.
