A suspect accused of climbing through a window and raping an 11-year-old girl inside her Brooklyn home was in custody Saturday, police said.
The man was being questioned but hasn't been charged, the NYPD said. He was arrested at Flatbush Avenue and Linden Boulevard, about six blocks from where the girl was attacked.
Police say the girl was asleep at her home in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday when the man climbed through her a second-floor window and crept into her room, police said.
He had climbed on a roof a few blocks away, then dropped down to her bedroom window and pushed through the air conditioning, police said.
The man then raped the girl and fled through the window, the NYPD said.
The girl called for her parents, who called 911, police said. She was taken to a hospital in stable condition, according to police.
The suspect was last seen wearing a sweatshirt emblazoned with “SF” and camo shorts. Surveillance video released by the NYPD shows the alleged suspect walking in the vicinity following the attack.
Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPDs Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
