The 1975s forthcoming new album looks set to be a heavy listen.
The four-pieces third studio LP, A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships, is expected in October, and frontman Matty Healy has previewed the record by delving into some of its more serious lyrical themes in a new interview.
Speaking to Billboard, Healy – who is the son of Denise Welch and actor Tim Healy – spoke about his recent heroin addiction, which prompted a long stint in rehab in Barbados at the end of 2017.
People had started to lose respect for me, but not an irredeemable amount, Healy remarked.
The fact that I knew I was building on something that wasnt destroying made me feel really strong. Because I knew that one more time and thats it.
One song on A Brief Inquiry…, titled Its Not Living If Its Not With You, sees Healy confronting his addiction head-on, with the frontman describing the track in the interview by saying: This is the big heroin one.

I dont have things that I want to write about that arent exactly what I feel day by day, he explained.
The problem I have now is that this is my truth, and I feel like I cant negotiate properly with the world if I cant tell the truth.
The 1975 will swiftly follow A Brief Inquiry… up with their fourth studio album, provisionally titled Notes on a Conditional Form, in January 2019.
