The US version of the hit British show was cancelled after a measly 12-episode, one season run, despite the original version being so popular.
MTV remade the E4 sitcom in 2012, and though the creators of the original series, Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, served as executive producers, it wasnt enough to take it off the ground.
And Joe Thomas, who played Simon Cooper in the UK version, has a theory about why the remake wasnt successful.
Appearing on E4s Sunday Brunch, Thomas said: They tried to make an American version of the Inbetweeners and it was very hard because they couldnt really swear very much because it was on network TV.
And then you couldnt show them drinking and stuff and thats kind of the whole show.

Just do the credits then – the beginning credits and the end credit. Just film the outside of a school, and thats it.
Just draw peoples attention to the various educational opportunities available to them.
Showrunners have denied fans a fourth season, however those yearning for an Inbetweeners fix might get it in the form of The Festival, a feature film created by the very same people who bought us the expletive-ridden series.
Thomas is set to star in the movie and will play Nick, a recent graduate who breaks up with his girlfriend and decides to lick his wounds at a music festival.

Awkward social interactions, weird situations and gross things are expected from the movie.
The Festival hits cinemas on 17 August.
