Timothee Chalamet may be the cream of Tinseltown right now with a Bafta and Oscar nomination under his belt but he’s still concerned about one thing… that he’ll never escape that peach scene.
The scene in question comes from his new film Call Me By Your Name and involves, as Timothee describes, ‘a peach and in life one has to explore sometimes, and the exploration commences’.
‘I’m worried 50 years from now I’ll be signing peaches from behind a desk,’ admitted Timothee on The Jimmy Kimmel Show ahead of the Oscars on 4 March.
‘That’s your vision of hell,’ laughed Jimmy, ‘you’re by the Hilton at the airport in Burbank…!’
As well as the Oscar and the Bafta, the 22-year-old actor is currently sweeping award nominations for his role as Elio Perlman in Call Me By Your Name, which included a nod on Bafta’s EE Rising Star Award and numerous wins for various Critics Awards and the Breakthrough Performance award at the National Board of Review.
Pronounced ‘Timo-tay’ and not ‘Timo-thee’, his name is a French spelling as his father is French, but the acclaimed actor – who has found himself nominated for an Oscar at the age of 22 – revealed that ‘it seems like too much of an obligation to ask people to call me that’ so has admitted he does not mind if you get it wrong.
‘My whole life I was Timmy and then as I got older, it seemed like Timmy was youthing me out, so it’s been Timothée since,’ he said during a conversation between himself and Frank Ocean for V Magazine.
