Sony have kept their Venom cards close to their chest as we approach the release of their foray into comic films next week.
Tonight, however, we were treated to a tantalising new clip of Tom Hardy as titular character Venom – the first weve seen in his transformation from Eddie Brock to the superhuman creature in full CGI action.
In the short teaser, we first see Eddie looking sweaty, with his hands up, as a SWAT teams circles around.
Fearing what may come if they antagonise him, Eddie says: You do not want to do this, trust me.
Focusing their red lasers on his chest, one SWAT member yells: Mask! as they all get ready to fire.
Okay, Eddie says, full well knowing his new capabilities. Have it your way.

He then yells and Venom comes to life – before a manic fight scene takes place, which might make some question the PG-13 rating in the US, even if Tom defended it himself.
As grenades and smoke plumes emerge, Venom rips around the scene, jumping from ground to balconies and back again, while the classic male Wilhelm scream is thrown in as the creature tears a SWAT member down from great height.
Showing just how he has channelled Conor McGregor in the character, the display really is something.
Earlier this week, Tom further explained how he was inspired by the fighter: There were more elements of Eddie Brock which needed to be pinned on somebody whos incredibly handy physically. And, obviously, Conor is incredibly handy physically.
There was an aspect the studio wanted somebody who could fight, which they always do in these sort of hero movies. They want somebody who can have a scrap. Conor obviously wants to have a scrap with everybody, so thats useful.
He added to RTE Entertainment: But then, there were elements like the neuroses of Woody Allen. So, if you put that and Conor together, there was that too.
Speaking about the seemingly controversial rating, Tom said earlier this week: [Its a 15 in the UK] and its a PG-13 in the states, but to be fair the thing can fulcrum into R-Rated and fulcrum into youth or children.
The dad-of-two also revealed hes happy to let his young sons watch superhero movies, and they havent been scared of Venom so far.

My littlest ones, they watch Spider-Man and Venom quite comfortably and Venom toys appear and LEGO appear, he continued to MTV International. So its not like theyre scared by him, and at the same time theres a lot in the real estate that you can actually imbue with a complete sense of gratuitous violence if you really wanted to.
More: Tom Hardy
And I think youve got the right people for that job if you want to push it, course thats where I want to go with it.
Venom is released in cinemas on 5 October.
