President Donald Trump will appoint several heavy hitters to his rebranded Presidential Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition.
One of those heavy hitters is legendary Patriots coach Bill Belichick, along with former NFL superstar Hershel Walker, Olympic volleyball gold medalist Misty May-Treanor and Dr. Mehmet Oz.
It seems like Trump and Belichick are pretty keen on each other. Earlier this week, it was reported that Trump called Belichick after news broke that Brady may not be happy on the Patriots roster. And today, it looks like they sealed the deal by nominating Belichick to be a member of this new and improved Presidential council.
According to the New York Post, the Presidential Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition will focus primarily on getting young kids in America back into competitive team sports. As of 2008, 45% of children participated “regularly” in some kind of team sport. Currently, that number is sitting around 37%.
Belichick has been an active Trump supporter and reportedly wrote him multiple letters of congratulation after he was elected president.
