Christopher Nolan, the famed director behind Dunkirk, Interstellar, and Inception, has a new movie coming out—and wouldnt you know, hes picked a one-word title for it. The upcoming film, due out next year, will be called Tenet. Beyond that information—and word that a few exciting performers have joined the cast—the project remains pretty mysterious.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, new additions Kenneth Branagh, Michael Caine, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Dimple Kapadia, and Clémence Poésy have come on board the movie, joining previously announced stars John David Washington, Elizabeth Debicki, and Robert Pattinson. If Poésys name sounds familiar, you might recognize her as Fleur Delacour from the Harry Potter films. In fact, for those counting, this means three Harry Potter alums have joined Nolans film so far. (Pattinson played Cedric Diggory in the blockbuster series, while Branagh played Gilderoy Lockhart.) Branagh also previously starred in 2017s Dunkirk, which nabbed Nolan his first Oscar nomination in the direction category, while Caine has worked with Nolan across several projects including Inception and the Dark Knight trilogy.
In addition to the cast of Tenet, T.H.R. has a bit of information about its plot; the film is being described as an espionage-based action epic. It will shoot in seven countries, using a mix of IMAX and 70mm film. Nolans longtime collaborator Emma Thomas will produce alongside him, with Thomas Hayslip on board as an executive producer. Also on board? Hoyte van Hoytema, whose work as a cinematographer boosted the stunning visuals in both Interstellar and Dunkirk, and Ludwig Göransson, the composer behind Black Panthers Oscar-winning score. Across the board, the message is clear: Nolan is gunning for the best.
Nolans last theatrical release, 2017s Dunkirk, scored three Oscars—although Nolan himself has yet to win a gold statuette despite several nominations. Maybe Tenet, which debuts July 17 of next year, will be the one to break that streak.
