Many of us may have thought that Oasis as a band would Live Forever.
Although their music might, the Gallagher brothers decided to Slide Away from each other some time ago, and have pretty much been feuding ever since.
Oasis were formed in 1991, with Noel joining his brother Liam and the rest of the original line-up later that year.
Their debut album after being signed – Definitely Maybe – was a huge hit, and their success continued throughout the peak of the Britpop era.
After the release of the fifth album, Heathen Chemistry in 2002, was perhaps when some would say the decline really started in the bands relationships.
Liam and drummer Alan White were involved in an altercation at a Munich club which saw the younger Gallagher brother losing two teeth and White being treated for head injuries after being hit with an ashtray.

Alan White later left the band to spend more time with girlfriend.
They managed to get through the release and tour of Dont Believe the Truth, and the album was critically acclaimed as well as doing well sales-wise.
In 2008 they released Dig Out Your Soul (their seventh studio album) and embarked on a tour, which went well by most accounts.
When V Festival in 2009 came around, however, Liam pulled out of the second date (Hylands Park) due to laryngitis. However, Noel claimed his brother simply had a hangover, with the culmination being a lawsuit against him from Liam.
An apology was issued by Noel and the suit dropped, but tensions rose and there were a number of reports of fights between the two (including one stating Liam threw a plum at Noel).
After this, Oasis manager cancelled their upcoming shows and Noel issued a statement on the bands website that read:
It is with some sadness and great relief…I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.
This was the official end of Oasis, with their final date being 22 August at Weston Park for the first day of V.
Since the split both brothers have formed their own bands (Beady Eye and Noel Gallaghers High Flying Birds) as well as doing solo work.

They continue to publicly argue, but its hard to tell whether its in jest or truth most of the time.
Liam and Noel both reached out to each other on Christmas 2017, and on 19 July 2018, Liam hinting that he wanted to get back together.

In response to this, he bookies have seen a flood of bets on Oasis being given one of the headline slots on the Pyramid Stage at next years festival, and its now just a 5/2 chance at Ladbrokes (from 10/1) they do so.
However, in a previous interview on Radio 4, Noel spoke about the trolling his family had received on social media and said:
My daughter has shown me things that people have written about her in regards to Oasis…thats disgraceful and it only heightens my resolve that I will never walk the stage with that band again, for that reason.
There are many reasons, loads of reasons, it used to be professional reasons like I dont want to do it, I did it, why taint the legacy?
But now its personal you know, people are coming after my family and one particular person has legitimised it and for that reason youve seen the last of Oasis.
So it looks like we might be waiting a while before a reunion.

In the meantime, well just have to go back to dealing with terrible acoustic Wonderwall renditions at house parties. As you were.
