NBA Commissioner Warns Teams About Tanking

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver warned all 30 teams in a memo last week that blatant tanking will result in punishments from the league office.

The content of that memo was reported Wednesday by USA Today’s Sam Amick.

According to Amick, the memo said:

“The integrity of the competition on the playing court is the cornerstone of our league. It is our pact with the fans and with each other, the fundamental reason we exist as a preeminent sporting organization, the very product that we sell. With everything else changing around us, it is the one thing in our league that can never change. We must do everything in our power to protect the actual and perceived integrity of the game.”

This was brought on by Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, who was fined last week for saying that the best option for his team was to lose. (RELATED: Mark Cuban Fined $600,000 For Tanking Comments)

After a recent report revealed that more than 20 high-profile college basketball programs allegedly engaged in illegal recruiting tactics, Jalen Rose is calling for players to boycott the NCAA Tournament.

“In the climate of so many things that are changing. So many discussions that have now come to the forefront, that have been closeted for so very long for a multitude of reasons I wish NCAA players would exercise that power by boycotting the NCAA Tournament,” Rose said in the wake of last week’s revelations.

Johnny Manziel Finally Opens Up About His Infamous ‘Billy Football’ Vegas Disguise

Johnny Manziel opened up for the first time ever about his infamous “Billy Football” disguise that he wore a couple years ago on a secret trip to Las Vegas.

The dual-threat quarterback dipped out to Las Vegas during his roller-coaster ride of a second season with the Cleveland Browns. It didn’t take long for the news to hit that he wore a disguise while hitting the town. The quarterback appeared on the Thomahawk podcast with Joe Thomas and Andrew Hawkins Wednesday, and explained what happened. It’s just as crazy as you’d expect.

Manziel stated the following (transcription from Sporting News):

I missed my flight, I put out an Instagram saying that I’m at home with my dog, and tagged it in Avon, Ohio. So then I’m like, I’m not going to be able to just go in with a hat. Let’s go get a wig. And, as funny as this is, I’m still pretty embarrassed by it. It’s still like a reckless decision, but like we said, let it die. I’m like, ‘Let’s go to this wig shop.’ So I type in Google, nearest wi..
