Barbara Windsors husband Scott Mitchell is taking part in todays London Marathon to helped raise money for Alzheimers Society and Alzheimers Research UK.

Since announcing his intention to take part and run in this years race, he has been joined by a number of Barbara Windsors former EastEnders co-stars.

Sir Elton John and David Furnish have already donated £5000 to the cause, and the same amount has been given by Richard Desmond.

Online Scott and the soap stars have managed to raise over £90,000, which takes them very close to their £100,000 target.

He has said that thinking about his wife will help him get complete the marathon, saying: For me it is more about completing the marathon, no matter what the time, to show my support for Barbara and all the 850,000 other people living with dementia across the country.
