Aquaman is already swimming way ahead of the competition at the box office – and hasnt even been released in the US yet.

According to reports the DC film, which stars Jason Momoa in the superheros standalone movie, has already made around $150million (£119m).

The film will sail into cinemas in North America on 21 December, so we can expect that wave to rise significantly.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Aquaman has made the biggest splash – geddit? – in China, where it has made around $135million (£107m), boasting record numbers for December and the best ever start for a DC film.

Thats not all, as the movie has already earned more in the last week than the entire runs of both Black Panther and Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Yes, seriously.

Basically, the DC team are having a whale of a time.

And it looks like there could be more Aquaman antics on the horizon, after a mid-credit scene appeared to hint at a possible sequel.

Yes, you read that right. A mid-credit scene.

Because post-credit moments are so last year…

But, as much fun as Jason had while playing Aquaman, and Khal Drogo in Game On Thrones, he recently revealed he wants to show more of his soft, playful, silly side.

And we arent sure were ready for this just yet.

I dont normally get to do silly things. Im normally hired to play that guy – the barbarian, the brute, he told Shortlist.

After Game Of Thrones, no one was thinking Id be perfect for a rom-com.

I want people to see me be funny, and romantic, not just some big lug. It would be nice to play a doctor or a lawyer. But the truth of it is, theyve got someone to play those roles.

If I have to play a brute, how about a soft brute or one with a heart of gold? If I got offered that then fuck it, its on.
