Christmas gimmicks have officially taken over late night—starting with The Late Late Show, where James Corden continued his programs annual tradition of uniting many of the previous years “Carpool Karaoke” singers for one rousing Christmas carol. Last year, it was “Santa Claus Is Comin to Town”. The year before? “All I Want for Christmas Is You”. And this years song choice was another banger: “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home),” with ringleader Michael Bublé.
Tons of this years carpool karaoke virtuosos are present for this Yuletide concert—including Ariana Grande, Christina Aguilera, Paul McCartney, Cardi B, and Barbra Streisand, who threw in a “happy Hanukkah” for good measure. (Cardi, of course, added one of her signature chirps, too.) Also having a good time? Migos, who joined Corden in his car just last month.
But it wasnt just The Late Late Show that found itself in the holiday spirit on this pre-Christmas week. On The Tonight Show Thursday, Miley Cyrus sang her own version of “Santa Baby”—although she took issue with a few of its outdated lyrics.
Meanwhile, Late Night opted to dive into the seemingly endless discourse surrounding “Baby, Its Cold Outside” by truncating the lyrics a little bit. In this version, the song pretty much ends after the first line.
And if none of this is doing it for you, we might suggest this years true reigning Christmas song: “Spidey Bells.” Corden, keep this one bookmarked for next year.
