Avengers: Endgame Already Has the Biggest Global Opening in Film History

Wouldnt you know it—those Avengers are pretty dang popular. So much so, in fact, that their Endgame mega-climax has already pulled in upwards of $644 million for its opening weekend, breaking the record previously held by Infinity War to become the biggest global opening by any film.

According to CNN, Endgame has been snapping records left and right since its international debut this past Wednesday—including the biggest international opening weekend, biggest IMAX opening, highest three-day start in China, and the biggest opening day in North America. That record was previously held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015, and now stands at Avengers $156.7 million Friday haul.

The three-hour culmination of Marvels 22-movie saga has thus far taken in about $487 million overseas, while Disney estimates a three-day domestic take of up to $340 million. If that projection holds up, itll be a far sight beyond the current $258 million record—set by none other than Endgames predecessor, Avengers: Infinity War.
