Avengers: Endgame Footage Has Leaked: Use Social Media at Your Own Peril

On Tuesday, there was a ripple in the Avengers: Endgame universe when rumors began spreading that a few minutes of the upcoming Marvel film had leaked online, more than a week before the films impending release date. CNBC seemingly confirmed the rumors, saying those who have seen the revealed clips deemed them on the “spoiler-heavy” side. Though Vanity Fair has not seen the clips CNBC is explicitly referring to, there do appear to be credible clips online, as well as robust (and very spoiler-y) descriptions of the leaked footage on social sites like Twitter and Reddit. In other words: use social media at your own peril.

Reps for Disney have not yet confirmed news of the leak to V.F.—but according to CNBC, whoever leaked the footage probably had clearance to view it in the first place, which means it likely was not recorded by a fan at an early screening. Gizmodo also notes that the leaked footage has subtitles in Arabic.

Avengers: Endgame is the final film in the core Avengers series, and is set to hit theaters on April 26. On Tuesday, shortly after news of the leak began circulating online, Anthony and Joe Russo released a letter urging fans not to spoil the film for others in the coming weeks.

“Please know that the two of us, along with everyone involved in Endgame, have worked tirelessly for the last three years with the sole intention of delivering a surprising and emotionally powerful conclusion to the Infinity Saga,” they wrote. “Because so many of you have invested your time, your hearts, and your souls into these stories, were once again asking for your help. When you see Endgame in the coming weeks, please dont spoil it for others, the same way you wouldnt want it spoiled for you.”

Though the duo did not explicitly refer to the news of the leaked footage in their letter, it wouldnt be a surprise to learn thats what spurred them to write it.
