Like an off-duty police officer at Nakatomi Plaza, Brooklyn Nine-Nine just barely managed to hang on. The cop comedy, canceled by FOX in the spring and picked up for new life by NBC days later, will return for its sixth season on January 10, and the first teaser for the new season finally lets Jake Peralta live out all his Die Hard fantasies—and might just act as a promise from NBC that they really will do right by the Nine Nine gang.
The expensive-looking teaser capitalizes on Jake (Andy Samberg)s undying love for the original Die Hard—itself a frequent source of parody during the shows FOX tenure. In it, the fan-favorite cast recreates the famous rooftop escape from the 1988 action thriller, complete with John McClanes explosion-silhouetted leap.
We wont spoil the elaborate fantasys ending, but its unlikely the teaser represents actual material from any upcoming episodes. The sixth season will premiere on Thursday, January 10 at 9:00 P.M., and eventually include the exit of Chelsea Perettis Gina—herself notably absent from the Die Hard-themed tease.
