Ariana Grande is leading the race for the UK Christmas number one with her break-up hit Thank U, Next.

Bookies Ladbrokes put the American singer/songwriter in the top spot despite it previously being tipped that Elton John would scoop the crown with Your Song thanks to it taking centrestage in the John Lewis advert.

Arianas new song Thank U, Next was written about her appreciation for all of her ex boyfriends, including her late ex Mac Miller who died from a drug overdose in September.

If Ariana keeps on top, shell be the first American artist to land the UK festive number one in nine years, when Rage Against The Machine took it in 2009.
