Coronation Street spoilers: A deadly shooting tears Carla Connor and Peter Barlow apart forever?

Coronation Street could be set to tear Carla Connor and Peter Barlow apart forever as a horrific shooting will rock the cobbles this week – and Peter is the target as the bullying teen targeting his son Simon strikes and opens fire.

As Simon returns from holiday with Ken, he is soon beset with threats from Tyler, who knows Simon intends to speak against him in court. Peter vows to protect his son after he is almost bundled into a car by the masked thugs – only to be saved by a passing Kate Connor.

As Simon is taken to Underworld by Peter, Carla is left in charge of watching him but after Sinead Tinker takes a funny turn, Carla races out of the factory to find Daniel Osbourne and Tyler seizes his chance.

Peter returns to find the gang banging on the doors as they yell threats at a terrified Simon and although he then thinks he has chased them off, Tyler later returns in his car and points a gun at Peter through the window.

He opens fire and hits Peter in the chest and Carla is horrified as he falls to the ground.

Will Peter survive his ordeal – or could this be the end of him and Carla forever?

Many fans are hoping for a reconciliation between the pair but even if Peter makes it, further trouble is coming in the form of Nick Tilsley – who Carla may still consider as the love of her life.
