Coronation Street spoilers: Alis addiction leads to a shocking collapse

Back in September 2018, Ryan Connors (Ryan Prescott) friend Cormac Truman in Coronation Street died from a drug overdose. When Ryan found Cormac fitting after the overdose, he called his brother Ali Neeson (James Burrows) instead of an ambulance.

Ali attempted to save Cormac but when the paramedics said Cormac had died, Ali blamed Ryan. This story is being revisited in upcoming episodes and we see Alis addiction will lead to a shocking collapse.

Already we have seen Ali take some diazepam after saving Hope from a fire, and when Ali reveals hes booked a posh hotel for him and Maria (Samia Longchambon), Maria returns home disappointed after their night away – Ali slept for England! Worried hes working too hard, Maria arrives at the hospital with lunch but Alis distracted as his dealer is arrested and dragged away. As he vents his anger on an upset Maria it looks like Ali will have some serious making up to do.

Ali goes to see Dr Gaddas (Christine Mackie) and desperately trying to hide his withdrawal symptoms, begs for a diazepam prescription. But Dr Gaddas isnt fooled and urges him to get help for his addiction. Insisting shes got it wrong, Ali leaves.

After failing to pocket some of Carlas (Alison King) anxiety pills, Ali heads home empty handed where he starts sweating and shaking. As Ryan arrives he is horrified to find Ali on the floor, convulsing.

As Alis seizure continues, a terrified Ryan rings for an ambulance. Regaining consciousness Ali is horrified to realise that Ryan has called the emergency services. Covering his condition he sends the paramedics away. Cancelling his date with Maria, Ali admits to a shocked Ryan that hes addicted to diazepam.
