Henry Newton is the definition of a desperate man and in tonights visit to Coronation Street, he takes drastic action in order to try and keep the wolf from the door. When thugs accost him in the street and threaten his life because he owes Cressidas family £20k for the wedding that never was, he has no idea where to turn.
At first, he is interested in a cheque that he sees Rita Tanner putting away in a drawer and as he contemplates stealing from her, she catches him rummaging around and wants answers about Gemmas sneaky boyfriend.
Later, as Jenny and Johnny Connor open the doors to the Rovers once more, a party is in full swing and Henry is working in the cellar when he is hit with a risky plan. Falling to the floor on the steps, he screams in pain and claims to have broken his arm.

As Jenny and Johnny worry about the fact that they havent yet sorted out the insurance, Henry declares that he plans to sue them for his injury and they fear their new business venture could be over before its begun.
Next week though, Gemma is floored when she realises that Henry faked his injury. He begs her to stand by him as once this debt is paid off they can get on with their future together. But Gemma is not keen on betraying her friends – even if Henry is getting death threats.
With George Banks having filmed his final scenes as Henry, its not looking like this scheme will pay off…
