Weve all had a heavy night out that left things a little blurry – especially during World Cup season – but not as many of us have found a picture of us slumped unconscious in a lift splashed over the tabloids. Jack P Shepherd has that, uhh, honour – but he is seeing the funny side.

The Coronation Street star, who plays David Platt, had been out boozing when he caught a bit of shut eye in an elevator in a block of flats – as you do. A passer by decided that this was an opportune camera moment and took a picture of the actor, stepping over him to use the lift and leaving him there.

But as the image has circulated, Jack has shared a version of it on his Instagram story explaining jokingly that he was just texting Gareth Southgate to remind him that yep, football is coming home.

Hes not wrong either, to be fair. As he predicted, England have effortlessly defeated Sweden 2-0 and are now on their way to the semi final – the furthest they have reached in the tournament in many years.

We wonder how Jack is celebrating tonight – lets just hope that there arent any passers by who have their smart phones handy for a cheeky snap this time.

On screen, Jack has had a busy time of it as he has portrayed David during his male rape storyline – a plotline that will resurface when he tracks down perpetrator Josh Tucker to get justice.
