James Gunns sacking from Marvel Studios Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 has divided the film and fan community.
The director – who is responsible for what is one of the studios most critically lauded movies – was dismissed from his role as director and writer on the forthcoming instalment in the cosmic franchise last night over a series of offensive historic tweets making light of subjects like paedophilia and rape.
Fans, stars of the film, and members of the media have bene divided over Disneys decision to axe the 51-year-old, with many already wondering who would be best to jump in the driving seat to helm the third film.
The first pick for many is Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi.
His first Marvel Studios project was based firmly in the comic side of the MCU, much like Guardians, and was another shining gem for Kevin Feiges studio.

Mixing retro pop culture themes with snappy humour and glorious action sequences, all mixed in with a kick-ass soundtrack – it shared many themes with the Guardians series.
Naturally, many MCU devotees were quick to lobby him to replace James.
If Disney doesnt tap Taika Waititi to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 then theyre doing this whole thing wrong.

Damn, so James Gunn is out of Marvel studios as a whole. Thats very unfortunate. I really enjoyed Guardians of the Galaxy and his sense of direction when it came to those films. Maybe Taiki Waititi can hold the reigns for him, but who knows…

Whatever Marvel Studios next move is, its sure to be divisive, as Gunn being jettisoned by Disney has received mixed reviews.
The tweets that Gunn made are dated between 2008 and 2011, and the director previously addressed them back in 2012 when he issued an apology for his past behaviour just after he had been tapped up by the corporation to direct GOTG Vol. 1.

While many called for his head yesterday – something which Disney promptly offered up – one of his leading men, Dave Bautista, railed against the decision.
