Downed tree in North Hollywood stirs up a swarm

A tree blocking a roadway stirred up a swarm of bees Wednesday, tying up firefighters in North Hollywood.

A report was taken at 1:31 p.m. at the 11500 block of Killion Street, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.

“One caller said there was a tree blocking the roadway with swarming bees,” said Humphrey, stressing that the tree itself was the biggest issue.

No ambulance was assigned to the scene but fire personnel remained at the scene for at least an hour, Humphrey said.

Additionally, Humphrey said, the city’s department of transportation was not requested for traffic control.
