Downton Abbey movie to go into production any minute now

Downton Abbeys Mrs Hughes has revealed that the upcoming movie production of the hit ITV show is about to go into production any minute now.

The news of the long-rumoured big screen story was confirmed in July but now actress Phyllis Logan, whoplays the muchloved housekeeper, has joked that the cast read the script so long ago that they have all forgotten what happens.

Im still not even convinced that I can speak about it but I can now, she said on Zoe Ball On Sunday.

Were all going to be reconvened – Im going to be back in the corset. Its going to be marvellous. Weve had a bit of emailage going on. Weve sort of forgotten, she said.

We got shown one night about a hundred years ago. But yes theres a script. Were going into production any minute now.

Theres been rumours of a film ever since the ITV period drama came to an end, but now Focus Features has announced that production is starting on the movie along with the shows cast.

In a statement, the studio revealed that the shows original principal cast from the TV show will be returning when production kicks off this summer.

Oscar winner Julian Fellowes has written its screenplay and will serve as producer alongside Gareth Neame and Liz Trubridge; Brian Percival, who directed its pilot, will be taking the helm of the movie.

Since the series ended, fans of Downton have long been waiting for the Crawley familys next chapter, Focus chairman Peter Kujawski said.

Were thrilled to join this incredible group of filmmakers, actors and craftspeople, led by Julian Fellowes and Gareth Neame, in bringing back the world of Downton to the big screen.

The movie is expected to feature all of the original cast, including Michelle Dockery as Lady Mary Crawley, Laura Carmichael as Lady Edith Crawley, Joanne Froggatt as Anna Bates, Hugh Bonneville as Robert Crawley, Elizabeth McGovern as Cora Crawley and Maggie Smith as Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham.
