It turns out that the Hollywood star and artist Sylvester Stallone is a fan of the Brooklyn-based painter Stanley Whitney. The Rocky actor and his wife, Jennifer Flavin, apparently bought one of the four new paintings by Whitney that sold at the VIP opening for between $350,000 and $450,000. Lissons stand mixed Whitneys paintings with those of his great friend Joyce Pensato, who died in June following a short illness. Whitney and Pensato had been planning the booth before her death and it was decided, along with her foundation, to continue with the presentation, though none of her works are for sale.
