EastEnders spoilers: Boss Kate Oates reveals Christmas and 35th anniversary plans

EastEnders boss Kate Oates has revealed that she and Executive Producer Jon Sen have explosive and dramatic plans in the pipeline for Christmas and the shows 35th anniversary in February 2019.

The show has just aired its autumn launch week, which included the wedding of Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) and Callum Highway (Tony Clay), the returns of Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) and Lisa Fowler (Lucy Benjamin) and the armed siege which saw Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) and Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) shot and Hunter Owen (Charlie Winter) killed.

But when Metro.co.uk caught up with Kate, she assured us that this was just the beginning and teased some even bigger plans in the pipeline.

While we have been sworn to secrecy over some of what we discovered about the events ahead, she revealed that characters to look out for include the Mitchells, the Carters and Whitney. But that is just the tip of the iceberg.

She enthused to us: Theres so much going on in Walford from autumn, well into the New Year. But, of course, in true EastEnders tradition, Christmas is huge. Much of it will circulate around a very complicated and messy love affair – so expect some major Sheanu drama as it all explodes – but weve got some twists and surprises in that story which last right through to New Year.
