EastEnders spoilers: Boss reveals Sean Slater return details amid Jean Slaters cancer storyline

Sean Slater (Rob Kazinsky) is set to return to EastEnders in the coming weeks as Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) faces her cancer battle head on.

Faced with her own mortality, Jean wants to see her son to make everything right. But with him being somewhat trouble, will his return be everything shes hoping for?

New exec producer Jon Sen has revealed what fans can expect from Sean showing up during his mums brave cancer battle.

We wanted to show just how close that bond is between mother and son, he said in a video on the EastEnders Twitter.

And were telling the story that, yes, Jeans cancer has been terrible for her but, in a way, has been one of the best things thats ever happened to her because its shown her her inner-courage and its brought back her son.

He added that his return will show a special side to both him and Jean as they reconnect.

When you see the bond between Sean and Jean, but also the real chemistry, the on-screen chemistry between Gillian [Wright] and Rob, you cant take your eyes away from it, he said. Its transfixing.

Gillian previously revealed that she suggested to Kate Oates that bringing back Sean might be what Jean would need at this time.

Kate asked me various questions such as What would be on Jeans wish list? and thats when I said Jean would want to find Sean, she said. So it was a discussion really, it was great.

Gillian also spoke about how it felt to be told Jean would be battling ovarian cancer, and she confessed if felt like being punched in the stomach and that she felt overwhelmed by it all.

My heart absolutely plummeted and I felt Id been punched in the stomach, she said. I was quite shocked by my reaction really. Because it is such a big thing.

I felt a bit overwhelmed by it. But at the same time I felt chuffed that they thought I was good enough to be able to carry a story like that.

The actress explained that shed helped consult on the storyline, and that it was a collaborative effort between her and the producers.
