Evil Stuart Highway has gone as far as shooting himself to land Mick Carter in prison in EastEnders and his sinister plans have paid off as Mick is suffering a great deal behind bars and even lawyer Ritchie says that the evidence against him is unbeatable.

Stuart has been brash enough to even confess what he has done to a disgusted and angry Mick over the phone but when Linda comes to visit him, she wont believe him – as new evidence has come to light that a man says he sold Mick the gun that was used to shoot Stuart.

As Mick despairs, Linda concedes that he must be guilty and walks out, telling him she cant support him anymore and the Carters are left decided as Linda forces them to choose between her and Mick.

Stuart is smug as Mick loses everything and with Linda not prepared to speak to him, Mick hits rock bottom. So is this now a chance for Stuart to make a move on Linda to make things even worse?

When asked by Metro.co.uk, Ricky Champ, who plays the villain, warned: Youd just have to wait and see but I think we can safely assume from that conversation and his agenda that this isnt over and the Carters as a whole should be afraid, very afraid.

But Stuart shouldnt count his chickens as one day the truth must surely come out. And Ricky cant wait for the big fallout. He enthused: You get the Carters backs up and they can be quite scary themselves! As far as whatever explosions happen in the future, yes I will relish them as always.

Discussing the depth of his characters depravity, he added: Theres this great conflict in Stuart Highway – and you see it at his most heightened moment such as in the episode leading up to the shooting where you saw him speaking to himself in the mirror. That madness was really dovetailing there. But there is part of him that is human and part of him thats really damaged. He does suffer some guilt – his conscience makes it all the more painful for him to do these things, hes not a robot by any means.

I think initially he just wanted Mick to endure the same suffering that he did. Stuart has this dark, obscure history of being in and out of jail and I think he blames Mick for all of that. As far as end game goes, youll just have to wait and see but for now, Stuart can allow himself a moment of satisfaction that this part of the plan has gone swimmingly.
