Mark Charnock has revealed that Lisa Rileys return to Emmerdale as Mandy Dingle would be a revelation.

Mark, who plays Paddy Kirk on the soap, will be reuniting with his co-star on screen tonight – and there has been speculation on why the Mandy Dingle character is returning after 17 years.

Could it be something to do with rumours that she would be rocking up with Paddys 16-year-old son called Vinnie?

Speaking on ITVs Lorraine during Mondays episode, he said: I cant tell about the length she will be there for, but I can tell you that the bits I have shot with her is revelatory.

He also teased twist and turns meaning that Mandys return could be very significant.

Although Paddys fiancée Chas would be less than happy with his exs return to town, Mark is ecstatic to be acting with Lisa on Emmerdale again.

He gushed: When she came back. It was like she never went away. It was like she never went away. It was immediate hysteria.

She turned into this wonderful woman. I just love her. I think shes great, he added.

Lisa told Metro.co.uk in an interview that she is also very pleased to be back on set.

She said: Theres so many new cast members who have welcomed me with complete open arms, and theyre like, “You will stay wont you?” So thats really nice that they want me on board.

But she wouldnt offer up much information about the duration of her return only that it would be something people wont expect.

The first initial offer was for a long period but because of work and my commitments, there was an original storyline which has been flipped. It wont be what people expect which is even better, she added. So it leaves things very much open for the new year shall we say!

Lorraine airs weekdays at 8:30 am on ITV.
