Fire Rages in Oceanfront NJ Restaurant: Official

USA Topics

A fire was raging at an oceanfront restaurant in New Jersey on Saturday afternoon, a fire official said.

The four-alarm fire was contained to one building in Ocean Grove, where the Dunes Boardwalk Cafee and several seasonal busiesses are located. Firefighters were having trouble bringing it under control.

Photos later showed that the roof of the large, white building had collapsed.

No injuries were reported. The building was unoccupied at the time.

Smoke was billowing over the Ocean Grove boardwalk.

Witness Brian Nealon, from Manalapan, New Jersey, said he walked out of a restaurant in Ocean Grove and saw the sky quickly fill up with black smoke.

Ocean Grove is just south of Asbury Park in Monmouth County.

Last year, another fire in Ocean Grove destroyed at least four homes and a vacant hotel.
