Heavy rains that drenched the tri-state area overnight more or less tapered off by late morning Tuesday, paving the way for the coldest air of the season to move in — and, possibly, some snow, according to Storm Team 4.
After a relatively mild day Tuesday with temps in the low 50s, bitter and blustery conditions return overnight leading into Wednesday. It'll be the coldest air of the season so far. Temperatures are expected to barely hit 40 on Wednesday before dropping into the 30s Thursday. The wind chill will make it feel even colder.
Storm Team 4 Tracking 2 Storms; Wintry Mix May Include Snow
There may be enough of that cold air in place for an initial rain-snow mix in the city Thursday before warmer air changes it to all rain by Thursday afternoon, potentially making for a rough evening commute. Accumulating snow is unlikely across most of the tri-state but some snow may stick in the Catskills.
