Casualty has cast another former EastEnders star. Actress Ellen Thomas is set to join the drama in a semi-regular role.

Ellen will play Jacobs mum, Omo Masters.

EastEnders fans will know Ellen best from playing Claudette Hubbard on the soap. Claudette left Albert Square in 2016, after the breakdown of her relationship with Patrick Trueman and her jealousy of Dot Branning.

After her stint on EastEnders Ellen went on to star in the play The Hotel Cerise.

Ellens first Casualty scenes will air in September, so fans have plenty of time to speculate about what brings Jacobs mother to the drama.

Shaheen Jafargholi has also joined Casualty as cheeky ED nurse Marty.

Shaheen played Shakil Kazemi on EastEnders. Shakil was killed off during a highly praised storyline which tackled the consequences of knife crime.

Ellen has previously mentioned a desire to return to EastEnders, saying that the producers had left the door open for Claudette to return.

Theyve said: “Weve left the door open, shes coming back and if we werent interested, wed kill her off!” she said, speaking to Whats On Stage.
