The Killing Eve actress-producer, 47, and the comedy hero of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, 40, will come together for the official start to awards season.

The news was confirmed earlier this year.

A tweet from the official Golden Globes twitter account read: We are pleased to confirm that Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh will be co-hosting this years 76th #GoldenGlobes!

Neither actor has spoken about the news as yet, though NBC Entertainment provided a statement on their behalf.

Sandra and Andy are the perfect choices to host this world-class event, said Paul Telegdy and George Cheeks, co-chairmen of NBC Entertainment.

Both TV actors are former Golden Globes winners.

In 2006, Sandra Oh – also a SAG winner and five-time Emmy-nominated – won the gong for Supporting Actress in a Series, Miniseries, or Motion Picture for TV. It was her first year in Greys Anatomy, starring in the role of Dr. Cristina Yang, and now she serves as co-executive producer and lead actress in Killing Eve.

Later, in 2014, former SNL comedian Andy was recognised twice for his part in Brooklyn Nine-Nine. He won the Actor in a Musical or Comedy TV Series for the role of Jake Peralta, which he still plays, and also as a producer on the show for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy.

Though theyve never worked on the same shows, the unlikely duo first came together for this years Primetime Emmy Awards in September and proved to be a popular pairing.

Sandra and Andy will break a run of solo male hosts, including Seth Meyers (2018), Jimmy Fallon (2017) and Ricky Gervais (2016), which was preceded by female double act Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, who teamed up for three consecutive years.

Why are they called the Golden Globes?

The first ever ceremony was in 1943 and was called the Hollywood Foreign Correspondents Association. It was founded by 21 foreign journalists.

There were only five winners in the following categories – Best Motion Picture, Best Actor and Actress and Best Supporting Actor and Actress – and they were given scrolls as a trophy.

According to the official website, the Golden Globe award got its name in 1946 after Hollywood Foreign Press Associations then-president Marina Cisternas came up with the idea of having a golden globe on a pedestal. And the trophy got the look that we know today.
