Harry Potter fans have been pronouncing 'knut' wrong this whole time

It has been 20 years since the first Harry Potter book was published and 16 years since the first film, but die-hard fans are still pronouncing one key word wrong.

Yes that’s right, there’s still much to learn in the school of witchcraft and wizardry.

Throughout the whole nine books (soon to be 10) we were always led to believe that the smallest coin in the wizarding world: knut, had a silent K.

Just like knife, knock, knowledge and knuckle, we thought it too was spoken as ‘nut’.

But apparently we have been wrong for almost two whole decades.

I know right? Mind blown.

According to the lexicon, the coin is actually pronounced as ca-nut.

This is almost as crazy as the time J. K. Rowling told the world that Voldemort had a silent T!

But as she admitted she was the only one who pronounced it that way, why don’t we stick with calling Knuts, nuts and leave ‘Ca-nuts’ behind with Voldemor(t).
