Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) and Liam Donovan (Jude Monk McGowan) have had plenty on their plate in Hollyoaks as of late, but it seems as if their biggest baddest secret is going to rear its ugly head to torment them once more, as Joel Dexter (Rory Douglas-Speed) discovers the truth about the hit-and-run accident. The question is: how far will the former lovers go in order to keep their secret hidden?
Earlier this year, Mercedes was going through a tough time and, as a result, she sought solace in Liam. On one particular night, Liam tried to cheer the young woman up by stealing Harrys (Parry Glasspool) new vehicle — which was a present from James (Gregory Finnegan) — and heading out for a joyride. However, during said joyride, an argument broke out, and the lovers ended up knocking down Grace (Tamara Wall).
Afterwards, Harry not only became prime suspect in the police investigation, he also became public enemy number one — with Grace holding him personally responsible. Harry discovered the truth and managed to record Mercedes threatening confession, but Breda McQueen (Moya Brady) viciously murdered him before he could use the information hed procured.

However, the truth could well be set to out in the coming episodes, as Joel discovers Harrys phone and — upon hearing the recording of Mercedes confessing to the hit-and-run — he heads to The Dog to play it aloud for the pub manager. Joel informs Mercedes that hell give her a chance to tell her family before he goes to the police.
