Aquaman star Jason Momoa has revealed he often had to take shit roles in order to make money and continue his career in acting.
The former Game Of Thrones star said that he thinks people get this idea that I had a choice with regards to what I do.
Being an actor – for me, anyway – its slim pickings. At one time, Id be 20th down the list for a part. I know Im not first. But Ive had a career, Ive taken shit and Ive made them good. Most actors can start being picky after a while. I havent been in that position.
The 39-year-old began acting in the early 2000s in TV but got his big break as Khal Drogo in Game Of Thrones in 2011 but he has suggested that he would be keen to move on from roles where he is seen as the brute.

Speaking to Shortlist, he said: I dont normally get to do silly things. Im normally hired to play that guy – the barbarian, the brute. After Game Of Thrones, no one was thinking Id be perfect for a rom-com.
I want people to see me be funny, and romantic, not just some big lug. It would be nice to play a doctor or a lawyer. But the truth of it is, theyve got someone to play those roles. If I have to play a brute, how about a soft brute or one with a heart of gold? If I got offered that then fuck it, its on.
Jason has now joined the DC universe as Aquaman, but in a preview clip for The Graham Norton Show on Friday he reveals that life immediately after Game of Thrones was pretty tough because people were surprised he speaks English.
I didnt get much work after that, Jason told Graham. I mean, what do you do with that – he (his character) doesnt speak English, hes not funny and he just hurts people.
I played that character well so it was a bit challenging afterwards. People would literally say, “Wow, you speak English!”
