JonBenét Ramseys Brother Settles $750 Million Defamation Lawsuit Over CBS Series

A multi-million dollar lawsuit against CBS has come to a close, as JonBenét Ramseys brother, Burke Ramsey, settled his case for an undisclosed sum. Burke previously sued CBS and producers of The Case of: JonBenét Ramsey for $750 million over the insinuation made in the docu-series that he bludgeoned his 6-year-old sister to death in the infamous 1996 crime.

According to The Daily Camera, court records show a Michigan Circuit Court judge dismissing the lawsuit this past Wednesday. A representative for producers of *The Case of: JonBenét Ramsey * also confirm “The parties have reached an amicable resolution of their differences,” while no attorneys for CBS have offered any official comment on the matter.

JonBenét Ramsey, a child beauty queen, was found dead in her Colorado family home on December 26, 1996, hours after her parents reported her as missing. The case made national headlines for its gruesome nature and suspicious circumstances. The 2017 CBS documentary—meant to coincide with the 20th anniversary of JonBenéts death—featured forensic pathologists advocating that Burke accidentally killed his sister, despite prosecutors previously clearing the Ramsey family of any involvement.

“The accusation that Burke Ramsey killed his sister was based on a compilation of lies, half-truths, manufactured information, and the intentional omission and avoidance of truthful information about the murder of JonBenét Ramsey,” lawyers for Ramsey stated in a 2016 filing. The documentary suggested that then-9-year-old Burke bludgeoned his sister to death, and conspired with parents John and Patsy to cover up the crime.

Terms of Burke Ramseys settlement are undisclosed, and the case of JonBenéts death remains unsolved to this day.
