Jordan Peeles New Us Movie Poster Is a Thing of Terror

Celebrities

Jordan Peele has unveiled the new poster for his upcoming social thriller Us, and it is, as expected, chilling. He posted the image on Twitter, with the caption: “Watch yourself. ” He also revealed that the trailer will drop on Christmas Day.

The image features a person wearing a crimson red outfit and one leather fingerless driving glove. They hold a pair of golden scissors. Its an ominous image, not least because theres nothing obvious to glean from it. What do the scissors mean? What does the singular glove mean? The overall effect is perfectly creepy and cult-y, which is right in Peeles wheelhouse.

Though the Oscar winner has yet to reveal plot details about the film, it was recently reported that the story revolved around two couples going on a beach-house trip with their kids, with the aim of unplugging and unwinding. Winston Duke, who broke out this year with his turn in Black Panther, and Lupita Nyongo play one couple, while Elisabeth Moss plays one half of the other couple. Representatives for Peele did not confirm the reports, so it could all be hearsay . . . but “watch yourself” seems to strongly imply that there could be some sort of tech angle.

In a recent interview with GQ, Duke teased the film, calling it “a wonderful conversation piece for 2019.”

“Its definitely a Jordan Peele–brand movie,” he said. “Its a thoughtful, psychological, impactful experience. Peeleian—thats gonna become a word in the film lexicon very soon. Youre gonna say, Aw, man, this feels very Jordan Peeleian.” The term “Lynchian“ sends its regards.
