Justin Timberlake took on the Super Bowl 52 half-time show with a performance than ran across his entire back catalogue and featured a tribute to Prince.
The annual NFL show was held in Minneapolis and was rumoured to be honouring Prince as it was his home town; at the mid-way point Justin performed Prince’s I Would Die 4 U, along with video footage of the late singer.
The cameras in the stadium also panned back during the song to reveal the surrounding city lights had been turned purple.
JT kicked things off around 7.20pm local time below the stadium with new single Filthy, but he soon strutted out on the field with Rock Your Body, his 2002 track which became infamous for the 2004 wardrobe malfunction that happened during Janet Jackson’s half-time show.
Subtly referencing the moment, as he danced with four backing dancers he refused to sing the final line – ‘gonna have you naked by the end of this song’ – and instead halted the song to begin Senorita.
He then moved on to Sexy Back, Cry Me A River, Suit And Tie, and a piano-led version of Until The End Of Time.
During Mirrors the on-field crowd held up, you guessed it, mirrors but it was the finale, a loud and bright rendition of his hit song Can’t Stop The Feeling which got the crowd on their feet and singing along.
The performance went off without a hitch, although it received a mixed response from fans at home.
